Dr. Scolarici is a faculty member in the Division of Infectious Disease. He is a physician in the Mycobacterial Infection Clinic, where he provides specialized care for patients with nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections. He practices transplant infectious disease, caring for immunocompromised patients across solid organ transplant, hematopoietic stem cell transplant and hematologic malignancy populations. He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the American Society of Transplantation (AST) and serves on the AST Infectious Disease Community of Practice sub-committees on Multidrug-Resistant Organisms and Education. He also has an interest in transplant infectious disease (ID) medical education and previously received a medical education innovation grant from the Department of Medicine to study transplant ID fellowship training.
Dr. Scolarici's clinical interests center on transplant infectious disease including patients with hematologic malignancies, hematopoietic stem cell transplants, and solid organ transplants. He also specializes in the diagnosis and management of nontuberculous mycobacterial infections through the Mycobacterial Infection Clinic.
Dr. Scolarici's research focuses on clinical outcomes in solid organ transplant recipients and patients with nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections. His interests include opportunistic and emerging infections in immunocompromised hosts, with specific interests in Ureaplasma infections in lung transplant recipients, NTM disease epidemiology and management, and endemic and invasive fungal infections.
